NYAHURURU, KENYA - Congregants at a church in Nyahururu were stirred by impassioned warnings from Catholic priests directed at President William Ruto concerning the ongoing protests against the Finance Bill 2024. The clergyman, drawing an analogy with bees, cautioned against harsh measures towards protesters, likening their actions to handling bees coming out of a hive.

"In my community, we don’t burn, beat, or chase away bees when they emerge from their hives. Instead, we guide them and show them the way," the priest declared to a chorus of agreement from the assembled faithful.

He emphasized that treating the protesters with respect and listening to their grievances would prevent escalating tensions and potential danger. "These bees, like the protesters, are not harmful. They have something important to communicate, and it deserves a receptive audience," he continued, reflecting the sentiment of the gathered crowd.

The Sunday service became a platform for local Kenyans to voice their discontent with the Kenya Kwanza government and its proposed Finance Bill 2024. Promising to fill the church, congregants expressed their frustration with the current administration's policies, particularly the financial reforms that have sparked widespread public outcry.

The priest's analogy resonated deeply with those present, underscoring the importance of dialogue and understanding in addressing societal issues. His plea for President Ruto to heed the protesters' voices and engage in constructive dialogue highlighted the community's desire for a responsive and inclusive governance approach.

As tensions simmer amidst growing public dissent, the call for peaceful resolution and mutual respect echoed throughout the church, encapsulating the hope for a harmonious resolution to the current societal challenges.
