Jennifer Aniston is asking fans to honor her late friend and former costar Matthew Perry in a special way.
The actress took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, November 28, to share a black and white photo of Perry and a quote from the actor, who died last month at the age of 54.
"For Giving Tuesday, please join me and Matty's family in supporting his foundation - which is working to help those suffering with addiction," Aniston wrote. "He would have been grateful for all the love."
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages people to donate to causes they care about on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
Aniston's post came a day after Perry's stepfather, Keith Morrison, also urged fans to support the Matthew Perry Foundation, which was launched earlier this month to help those struggling with addiction.
"This is not the sort of thing I commonly do, this pitch. But this year is different," Morrison, a journalist, wrote on X(formerly Twitter), sharing a link to the charity's website. "And tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. Do what you can; he would have been grateful."
The foundation's mission is to honor Perry's legacy by providing resources, education, and advocacy for people affected by addiction and their families.
"Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down," Perry once said, according to the foundation's statement.
Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends, had been open about his struggles with substance abuse and depression. He was found unresponsive in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home on October 28, after police responded to a call of cardiac arrest. His official cause of death has yet to be determined pending a toxicology report.
His Friends costars - Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Lisa Kudrow - expressed their devastation over his death in a joint statement to Us Weekly.
"We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family," they said. "There is so much to say, but right now we're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will continue to say more, as and when we are able. For now our thoughts and our love are with Matty's family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
The cast attended a private funeral for Perry on November 4 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills neighborhood, near Warner Bros. Studios where Friends was filmed. (The series aired on NBC for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004.)
Aniston later individually mourned Perry on Instagram, calling his passing a "deep" cut.
"Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been one of the hardest things I've ever had to do," she wrote, alongside a photo of them hugging. "He was a light in this world, a brilliant actor, a hilarious comedian, a generous friend, and a loving son. He made us laugh, he made us cry, he made us feel. He will be missed more than words can say."
She added, "I love you, Matty. Always have, always will."
