Former Vanderpump Rules star Kristen Doute and her boyfriend Luke Broderick shared their heartbreaking story of losing their unborn baby due to a nonviable pregnancy.

Doute, 40, revealed on her podcast "Sex, Love and What Else Matters" that she and Broderick, whom she started dating in December 2022, found out they were expecting their first child together on October 24, 2023. The couple was overjoyed by the news, but their happiness was short-lived.

"I only feel comfortable talking about this because I know so many friends of mine have gone through this," Doute said on the podcast's November 26 episode. "So many women have been through this and it's really f—king terrifying."

Doute explained that she had an abortion when she was younger, but didn't know much about being pregnant. She also experienced some light bleeding during the early stages of her pregnancy, which worried her.

"It was very wild to me that you can find out that you're pregnant — you don't really know how far along you are," Doute said. "So, weeks and weeks and weeks later you're supposed to sit with yourself in your body and hope you can take care of this growing baby as best you can and have no clue about what to do."

The couple decided to schedule an ultrasound to confirm how far along they were. After going in for two ultrasounds, Broderick said everything was "looking exactly as it should." However, during their third ultrasound appointment, they received "bad news."

"We find out that Kristen's pregnancy is not a viable pregnancy," Broderick said, adding that there was "no embryo."

Doute said that she was quick to wonder what went wrong, but doctors assured her there was "no cause" for this.

"They said it's just a fluke thing that happens. It's nothing that you did. It's nothing that you ate. It's nothing that you drank. It's nothing that you smoked. It's nothing that you did. It's just something that happens," Doute said.

The couple had to go through a procedure to remove the pregnancy tissue, which Doute described as "the most painful thing I've ever gone through in my life."

Doute and Broderick said they are "very hopeful" for the future and want to try again for a baby. They also thanked their friends and family for their support and love.

"We're not giving up. We're not giving up on our dreams of having a family," Broderick said.

Doute and Broderick went public with their relationship in December 2022, after Doute was fired from Vanderpump Rules in June 2022 for her past racist actions. The couple has been inseparable ever since, sharing their love on social media and on their podcast.

Doute was previously in a long-term relationship with Pump Rules costar Brian Carter, whom she split from in 2019. She also dated Tom Sandoval and James Kennedy on the show.
