Travis Kelce, the star tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs, has opened up about his relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift and hinted at their plans for the upcoming holiday season.
In an interview with WSJ. Magazine for the cover of the December/January issue, Kelce revealed how he and Swift met and how they managed to keep their romance under wraps for a while.
Kelce said that he first tried to meet Swift at her Eras Tour show in July, but failed to get her attention. However, he had some help from Swift's friends and family, who played Cupid and encouraged her to reach out to him.
“She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out,” Kelce said.
The NFL player also shared that he was surprised to see Swift's cousins taking pictures in front of his locker when she came to Arrowhead Stadium for a concert in September.
“That’s when I knew it was real,” he said.
Kelce and Swift made their relationship public shortly after, when they were spotted together at several Chiefs games and events. Kelce also attended Swift's Eras Tour shows in Buenos Aires and London, where he danced and sang along to her songs.
Kelce said that he admires Swift's talent, humor, and resilience, and that they share similar values when it comes to family and work.
“Everybody knows I’m a family guy,” Kelce said. “Her team is her family. Her family does a lot of stuff in terms of the tour, the marketing, being around, so I think she has a lot of those values as well, which is right up my alley.”
As for their Christmas plans, Kelce hinted that they will be spending some quality time together, but did not reveal any specifics.
“I think it’ll be a fun one,” he said. “I don’t want to give too much away, but we have some things planned.”¹²³⁴⁵⁶
