The EE British Academy Film Awards 2024 have found their host in David Tennant, the acclaimed actor who is best known for playing Doctor Who.

Tennant will oversee the proceedings during the U.K.’s biggest night for film on Feb. 18 at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The awards ceremony will honour the achievements of the British and international film industry in the past year.

“I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year’s films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life,” said Tennant in a statement.

Tennant is no stranger to the BAFTA awards, having won three BAFTA Scotland awards and one BAFTA Cymru award for his portrayal of the Tenth Doctor in the popular sci-fi series Doctor Who. He also received a BAFTA nomination for his role as DI Alec Hardy in the crime drama Broadchurch.

Tennant’s career across film, TV and stage also includes Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Good Omens, Jessica Jones, Hamlet, and Much Ado About Nothing. He can currently be seen playing Macbeth at the Donmar Warehouse, where he has received rave reviews for his performance.

The EE BAFTA Film Awards 2024 will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC One HD, as well as online and on social media platforms. The nominations for the awards will be announced on Jan. 25. The public can vote for the EE Rising Star Award, which recognises the most promising new talent in the film industry, on the BAFTA website.
