Succession and The Bear dominate Emmys 2024

The 75th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards celebrated the best of television on Monday night, with HBO's Succession and Netflix's The Bear taking home the most trophies.


Succession, the critically acclaimed drama about a media mogul and his dysfunctional family, won seven awards, including best drama series, best actor in a drama series for Brian Cox, best actress in a drama series for Sarah Snook, and best supporting actor in a drama series for Kieran Culkin.


The Bear, the hilarious comedy about a group of friends who run a podcast about a fictional bear, won six awards, including best comedy series, best actor in a comedy series for Kumail Nanjiani, best actress in a comedy series for Issa Rae, and best supporting actress in a comedy series for Betty Gilpin.


Beef, the dark comedy about a feud between two neighbors, also had a strong showing, winning five awards, including best limited series, best actor in a limited series or movie for Steven Yeun, and best actress in a limited series or movie for Sandra Oh.


Other notable winners included Ted Lasso, which won best supporting actor in a comedy series for Brett Goldstein, and Mare of Easttown, which won best supporting actress in a limited series or movie for Julianne Nicholson.


The ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with a limited live audience and some nominees appearing via video link. The show featured musical performances by Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and BTS, as well as tributes to the late Chadwick Boseman, Alex Trebek, and Larry King.
