A heartwarming video has gone viral, capturing a touching moment at the gym. The video, posted on the TikTok account (@gymoholicz), shows Austin Beasley supporting his girlfriend, Tianna Shefsky, as she completes a challenging set of barbell squats.

In the video, Beasley provides both motivational words and physical support, helping Shefsky, both 19, push through self-doubt and exhaustion to complete the exercise. The on-screen text reads, “POV [Point of view]: he believes in you when you don’t believe in yourself.” Since its posting on May 8, the video has garnered 425,500 views and 41,000 likes.

“She pushes me to failure!” Shefsky, from British Columbia, Canada, told Newsweek. The term “failure” in the gym context refers to exercising until muscle fatigue prevents completing another repetition with proper form. It is a common strength-training method to maximize muscle growth and strength gains.

The footage shows Shefsky using a barbell squat machine. Initially doubtful of her ability to finish the set, she receives steady encouragement from Beasley, who stands close behind, saying phrases like, “You got this, just three more reps!” and “Believe in yourself!”

Beasley’s unwavering support visibly boosts Shefsky’s confidence, enabling her to successfully complete the set. This real-life example echoes findings from a 2021 study by researchers from Kent State University in Ohio, published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships. The study examined the effects of exercising with a romantic partner on daily experiences and relationship satisfaction.
