In a heartbreaking incident, Iyan Kingao, a one-year-old child residing in the Igangidung’u neighborhood of MakambakoNjombe region, lost their life after being caught in a devastating fire. The fire originated from a charcoal stove within the home while the child’s mother was away, fetching cooking oil from a roadside vendor on a motorcycle.

The child’s mother, Anna Mabiki (28), recounted the harrowing events. She had left her little one sleeping on the couch around 2:00 AM, intending to quickly collect cooking oil. Upon her return, she was met with the horrifying sight of flames engulfing their home. “I rushed inside, and my brother came to help rescue my child. But as I tried to save my baby from the flames, I slipped and fell. People outside urged us to wait while they pulled us out,” Anna tearfully explained.

Emmanuel Gadau, the neighborhood chairman, and Happiness Sanga, the local executive officer, confirmed the tragic incident. Not only did the child lose their life, but the fire also consumed the family’s television and couch. Authorities are urging parents to remain vigilant and keep a close eye on their children to prevent such devastating accidents.

This heart-wrenching event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and parental supervision. Our thoughts go out to the grieving family during this difficult time. May little Iyan rest in peace. 🕊️
