Jimmy Tarbuck, the veteran comedian and TV personality, has been fined for a hit-and-run incident that left a row of damaged vehicles near his £5.5million home in south-west London.

The 83-year-old was caught on a neighbour's Ring doorbell camera smashing his green Lexus into a black car parked in Coombe Gardens, New Malden, on May 15.

The footage shows Tarbuck's car lifting off the ground and rolling over the stationary vehicle, before returning to the road and narrowly missing another car behind it.

The impact pushed the black car a couple of meters down the kerb and stopped just in front of a large tree.

Tarbuck then drove away from the scene, leaving the wreckage behind him.

He did not attend Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court yesterday, where he pleaded guilty to the offences by post.

He admitted to driving without due care and attention; failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.

He was fined £716, with £110 costs and ordered to pay a £286 victim surcharge.

His clean driving licence was also endorsed with five penalty points.

Prosecutor Laura-Ann Harding told the court the incident occurred at approximately 3.30pm: 'The defendant drove a vehicle without due care and attention.

'They collided heavily into stationary vehicles, causing severe damage and at the same time an accident occurred with another vehicle, a Vauxhall Corsa and they failed to stop when required and give their name and address.'

Tarbuck, who was born in Liverpool, is best known for hosting variety shows such as The Jimmy Tarbuck Show, Winner Takes All and Tarby's Frame Game.

He has also appeared on panel shows such as I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, QI and Would I Lie to You?

He lives in Coombe Park, Kingston-upon-Thames, a private gated community where other celebrities such as Ronnie Corbett, John Major and Brigitte Nielsen have also resided.
