Murder Probe Launched in Ugley, Essex as Two Found Dead

Police are investigating a murder in Ugley, near Bishop's Stortford, following the deaths of a woman in her 50s and a man in his 20s on Tuesday evening. 



Officers were called to Cambridge Road in Ugley, where they found the victims injured. Despite their efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene. A 63-year-old man from Ugley has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Essex Police confirmed that they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.


Detective Inspector Lydia George commented on the situation, expressing condolences to the victims' families. "My thoughts are with the loved ones of the two people who were killed in Ugley last night.

This will be an unimaginably difficult time for them, and they will be supported by specialist officers."


Inspector George also sought to reassure the local community. "I know this incident will cause concern within the local community, but I want to reassure them that we have a team of experienced detectives and staff investigating. At this stage, we do not believe this incident poses a risk to the wider public and we’re not looking for anyone else in connection with it."


Police have urged anyone with information to contact them on 101, quoting incident 1271 of 28 May.
